The Yin Within
January 29, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Yin yoga stretches and targets both the deep connective tissues between the muscles, and the fascia throughout the body.
The aim is to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility. It promotes the flow of nutrients and energy through the body, reducing pain and restoring mobility. Most poses focus on the hips, lower back and legs, areas where we tend to hold tension.
Additionally, Yin Yoga has a meditative aspect, encourages us to go inward, and become calm and centered.
Learn about Yin Yoga’s Taoist roots, as well as contemporary teachers that have shaped our Yin Yoga practice today, the concept of Yin and Yang, the meridian system, the three tattvas (guidelines) for Yin Yoga and more.
We will also incorporate TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) theory, in which winter reflects the utmost yin quality.
TCM teaches how to live in harmony with each individual season, and which meridians and organs are associated with the winter season.
Experience many Yin Yoga poses, learn their names (which differ from Hatha Yoga) and discover modifications in case you are working with sensitive knees, lower back, or any injuries.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of Yinsters, beginners to athletes. Not recommended for pregnant persons.
