Time: 4:00 – 5:30pm. \nThe word Ashtanga means “Eight Limbs” in sanskrit\, referring to the eight-limbed path of yoga. Eight limbs start with outer discipline and move step by step toward inner freedom\, self-realization and liberation. Asana (Postures) is the third limb\, aiming to purify the body and preparing the mind for meditation. Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic practice that synchronizes movement\, conscious breath and focused attention (Dhristi).\nThis 90-minute class introduces you to the Foundations of Ashtanga Yoga. In this Preparatory series\, students are introduced to a sequence of postures from the Primary series flow. the class helps prepare you to step confidently into the full primary series\, while cultivating grounding\, alignment and mindful awareness.\nWe begin with Sun Salutations to warm and energize the body\, followed by a sequence of standing\, Prone and Supine postures\, seated and closing postures. The practice is designed to create Internal Balance\, Flexibility and Focus.\nThe room is gently warmed up to 85 oF using Infrared ceiling mounted heaters to support safe stretching\, improve circulation and create an atmosphere that reflects the traditional roots of Ashtanga practice. \nRead about instructor…
